Open Invention Network buys a few of Microsoft’s patents

Just noticed that the Open Invention Network has purchased several patents that once were part of Microsoft’s IP, now I have to wonder, what is the content of these patents? and how come they are so easily taken away by a pro Linux group? that by itself brings doubts about the intentions behind the sale of these patents..

Maybe I’m just paranoid, but i would not buy from my direct opponent, specially from one that is known to have used unethical tactics in the past to control the industry and get rid of the competition.

Another thing that occurs to me is, they are just trowing away what is not needed anymore, so the patents may have no real value these days and whoever decided to buy them, is just simply still focused on how things used to be 10 years ago and have just thrown a lot of money away in some useless patents that will do no good to anyone on the Linux side.

But who knows, without actually reviewing the patents, is hard to say.
